As a fused glass artist, my real joy comes from designing and creating detailed landscapes that typically include some type of animal or bird. I do, however, continue to make beautiful functional pieces as well.
I design and create all of my fused glass pieces from my home studio, using large sheets of glass that I hand cut, as well as stringers and various sizes of crushed glass frit. I make plates and bowls, seascapes, traditional landscape scenes and contemporary art to hang or display in stands. Depending on the desired effect, I layer and arrange the glass and may use multiple firings to create visual depth. By controlling the temperature and time in the kiln, the pieces can be completely smooth or have very soft, or quite strong, texture. Depending on complexity and desired design, pieces can take anywhere from 3 days to several weeks to make.
In order to keep my designs current and interesting, I am constantly learning and challenging myself to try new techniques.
I’ve made and sold hundreds of pieces at several juried shows , open studio tours and have made over 70 commissioned pieces including plates, wall pieces, self-standing panels, sconces, lighting and more.
It brings me great joy to see someone’s face light up when seeing one of my pieces for the first time and to have them purchase and bring that piece home is a true delight.
