October 27th - November 22nd
“Connections of Life and Death” featuring the glorious multi-media work of Carson Abbert and the whimsical ceramics of Veronica Arquilevich Guzman.

As the warm light of summer and autumn fades, Carson explores the ways in which his abstract pieces can reference the joy and ephemerality of life.
With a playful focus on bright colors and various painterly techniques, his work evokes spontaneity and excitement. As Carson’s Xs and Os symbolize human connection, his multi-media process of painting and collage is where the real energy comes from; striking a balance between randomness and order to create a metaphor for life’s celebrated twists and turns.
For this show, Carson’s artworks represent LIFE: Tender. Bold. Unexpected. Gentle. Goofy. Intimate. He feels that there isn’t much time. Celebrate it all! Remember the kisses! Hold onto those moments when you are closest to those you love!

Veronica creates one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces, using a wheel or a slab and then transforming the results into whimsical animals and nature inspired pieces.
In this exhibition she explores the idea that the human race knows that its existence is ephemeral; that we cannot begin to understand, and celebrate the essence of life, without also acknowledging the inevitability of DEATH.

COLOR, THOUGHT & MOTION

June 30th - June 26th
"Colors answer feeling in man; shapes answer thought; and motion answers will."  - John Sterling

Longtime friends Mandy Allen & Liane Crigler first met in the metals studio at Humboldt State University learning the wide variety of skills to launch their respective careers.

Throughout the years, each artist’s work has continued to grow and evolve into other styles, products & medium – from jewelry to wall sculptures & other home décor pieces.

Following their own passions and voice, their love of color & nature inspired imagery has come full circle in this collection of new works that express both artists love of color, attention to detail and use of space.

Liane’s glass suncatchers and Mandy’s anodized aluminum mobiles will be featured in Lavaun’s Community Gallery June 30 – July 26. Opening reception Last Thursday, June 30th, 6 to 9pm.

Celebrating the Light

Picture

March 31st - April 26th
Featuring artists Marty Hogan and Kazue O Young.

Marty says of her work, “When I go into my studio to make jewelry, I’m going in to play with light. When I pick out a stone to set, I move it around and look for the light within it. When I touch the metal with the flame from my touch, I celebrate the play of light and color on the surface.  I look to nature for inspiration for my jewelry and to light to breathe life into the metal and the stones."

Kazue O Young strives to transfer the feelings and beauty that she experiences in the natural world into her artwork. She uses Traditional Japanese Textile techniques - Katazome, Indigo & Bingata.

The Nature of Glass

Feb 24 - Mar 30
“The Nature of Glass” features the Fused Glass landscapes of Linda Gerrard, running February 24 - March 30 in our front window.

Linda is known for creating landscapes with depth and complexity made entirely of fused glass. This is a very tricky medium due to its opacity, its transparency, and don't forget the reflections.  Her work can easily be wall hung, or simply placed in a stand.
