My history of working with clay started a few years after graduating from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Illustration. My 25+ years of mainly hand building mostly functional, decorative ceramics has changed and evolved much over the years. One thing always remained constant; my love of surface design and embellishment. This influence started at a young age growing up in a home filled with decorative objects from Egypt, where my dad was originally from. Over the years I have used such techniques as stamp making, using found object to press impressions into the clay, sgraffito (carving into the clay at the leather-hard stage), various glaze painting techniques, and most recently the application of underglaze transfers. I continue to try new things and combine different techniques. It keeps it fun for me!
